Abstract

This work is to review the notions and concepts of value chain utilized by various researchers particularly, in the sector of agriculture business. The very first section of this paper investigates different concepts of value chain and how these concepts have been changed throughout the history. The second part of the paper seeks to review supply chain management and conclude to distinguish value chain from supply chain in the sector of agriculture business. For this purpose, different and existing literatures are reviewed to recognize what stages and scopes are considered in a value creation process (value chain) review. Eventually, a determined concept of value chain is identified to assess agriculture business analysis of value chain. It is recommended to analyze and establish a methodological framework along with objective indicators for assessing and benchmarking competitiveness and performance within agribusiness value chains.
