Tabish International Institute for Research

Tabish International Institute for Research (TIIR) is envisioned as an autonomous, multidisciplinary research and academic institute under the academic leadership and administrative framework of Tabish University. The Institute serve as a center of excellence for high-quality research, scientific publishing, capacity building, evidence-based policy development, and national and international academic collaboration. 

Strategic Importance of the Institute

TIIR is designed to serve Afghanistan’s growing need for standardized, impactful, and policy-oriented research. The Institute will fill the current gaps in research infrastructure and will contribute to the country’s knowledge economy by: ● Promoting academically rigorous and solution-oriented research on national issues.

● Enhancing Afghanistan’s access to international research experiences and networks.

● Strengthening the quality and relevance of research within higher education institutions.

● Contributing to evidence-based public policy development.

● Supporting innovation, capacity building, and academic excellence in line with international best practices.

To become a nationally and internationally recognized center of excellence in research, innovation, and policy formulation, providing evidence-based solutions to Afghanistan’s development challenges.

Objectives

1. Enhancement of Research Quality

 Promote authentic, innovative, and impactful research aligned with academic standards.

 Build institutional research capacity and scholarly productivity.

2. Promotion of Academic Publishing

 Establish and manage national and international peer-reviewed journals.

 Offer an academic platform for the publication and dissemination of research.

3. Support for Evidence-Based Policy Development

● Provide research-based recommendations and policy briefs to the public and private sectors.

 Align national strategies with research-informed decision-making.

4. Specialized Training and Capacity Building

 Deliver targeted training programs, workshops, and courses to students, faculty, and professionals.

 Enhance research skills, academic writing, and data analysis capacities. 

5. Scientific Collaboration and Innovation

● Organize national and international conferences, symposia, and research collaborations.

● Foster a culture of interdisciplinary innovation and academic exchange.

Justification for Establishment

1. Limited Research Institutions and Low Output

Existing research institutions are insufficient and often do not meet global standards. TIIR aims to provide a standardized and independent platform for impactful research.

2. Weak Evidence-Based Policy Ecosystem

Public and private sector policies often lack scientific grounding. TIIR will address this through evidence-based recommendations.

3. Limited Scholarly Publications

TIIR will boost Afghanistan’s academic visibility through rigorous and internationally recognized publication platforms.

4. Need for Capacity Development

Students, faculty, and professionals lack access to structured research training. TIIR will provide comprehensive capacity-building opportunities.

5. Insufficient International Linkages

TIIR will build strategic partnerships with global universities, research centers, and scholars to strengthen Afghanistan’s academic integration.

6. Revenue Diversification and Financial Sustainability

TIIR will generate income through:

● Contract research and consulting services

● Fee-based training programs and seminars

● Article processing charges and membership fees in academic journals ○ National and international research grants and joint projects

● Donor funding and academic sponsorships
